REMEMBERING AALIYAH

Today marks the seventh anniversary of the death of Aaliyah "Baby Girl" Haughton. 2001 was a really a tough year because just a few weeks later is when the horrific tragedy of 9-11 happened.

I remember walking around that day in total shock when I heard about Aaliyah. I mean her music basically became the soundtrack to my high school years and we were the exact same age. I thought how could this happen. She was so on the verge of bigger things. She had just showed off her acting chops, which were suprisingly good, in "Romeo Must Die" and "Queen of the Damned," had a new album coming out, and despite all this success she seemed just as humble and genuine as she was when she first came out.
Today, I can't help but wonder what would have happened if she was still here. I wonder what her music would have developed into and how big of a movie star she would've been (sigh).
"Baby Girl" you are definitely missed down here but will never be forgotten. So today let's remember Aaliyah.
