BREAKIN' 2: ELECTRIC BOOGALOO 25TH ANNIVERSARY SCREENING

So as I previously reported, this past Saturday at the New Beverly movie theater in Los Angeles there was a special midnight screening of Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo with a few cast members. After nearly forgetting about the screening, I swiftly made my way over to the New Beverly so that I could see my childhood heroes and watch the film that made me want to move to Los Angeles in the first place.

Waiting in line, the first cast member to arrive was Michael "Boogaloo Shrimp" Chambers aka Turbo. Shrimp walked down the sidewalk and greeted his many fans who anxiously awaited in a line that snaked down the sidewalk. As we entered the theater, the lady at the door gave us these really cute Breakin' 2 buttons that were totally worth the trip.

Inside, Shrimp set up a table and signed glossies and took pictures with the fans.

Moment's later, Lucinda Dickey arrived with her family and promptly began taking photos and chatting with the super excited fanboys and fangirls (like me) who went up to her.

After a short Q&A where Lucinda and Michael reminisced about what it was like to shoot both Breakin' movies all those years ago, the film began.

It was totally a cool experience since the theater was able to get their hands on an original print of the film that included the trailers for all of the classic 80's breakdance inspired movies, including a few that I had never even heard of. The crowd was totally stoked and applause and laughter filled the joyous room as the movie began.

I must say that it felt pretty darn special to be in the same room watching this classic movie with the very people who brought the film to life. It's an experience that none of the several Breakin' fans that were there that night will soon forget.
