Chris Rock is partnering up with Sony Screen Gems and Sidney Kimmel Entertainment to do an "urban" remake of the '07 British comedy "Death at a Funeral." Rock will producer, star in and co-write the script with former Everybody Hates Chris scribe and my former co-worker Ayesha Carr.
The film will be an ensemble comedy and will take place in an urban American setting and centers on a funeral ceremony that devolves into a debacle of misplaced cadavers, indecent exposure and family secrets.
Sounds like "Kingdom Come" the sequel but we shall see. Congrats to Ayesha and Chris for what is hopefully to be a fun movie.
