WHITAKER'S 'BRICK CITY' COMES TO SUNDANCE

The Sundance Channel is taking it to Jersey next year when it premieres a 6-part series documentary about the struggles currently taking place in Newark, New Jersey. "Brick City" takes an inside look at Mayor Corey Booker and the various citizens who are making a concious effort to improve their community and get rid of the violence that has plagued their city for ages.

According to THR, the series will take place over the span of about a year so viewers can see whether things in Newark change. "Brick City" is scheduled to air in the third quarter of '09. Forest Whitaker, who is one of the executive producers on the project, may offer his voice to narrate the series.
