WILL SMITH DISCOVER'S SCIENCE

Can I just say that I really love my Uncle Will for this. He always injects himself into smart projects and makes them better. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Will's production company, Overbrook, is stepping in to produce the upcoming Science Channel's "Young Scientist Challenge." The show has been going on for 10 years now but I get the feeling that with Will aboard, it's gonna get some much needed attention.

The show is set to air on January 18th (two days before the inaugaration I might add).

"YSC" will chronicle the journey of 10 middle school students -- selected from thousands of applicants nationwide -- from their hometowns to NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Washington, where they will compete in the Discovery Education 3M Young Scientist Challenge.

Tied to NASA's 50th anniversary, the theme of the competition this year is "The Science of Space." The finalists will face off in mini-competitions, scientific presentations and an innovation challenge for the top prize: a $50,000 savings bond and the title of America's Top Young Scientist.

I must say, as a Space Camp alum, I can truly appreciate this. Kudos to Will and his partners James Lassiter and Ken Stovitz for stepping up to make this a really big deal.
