So, folks were up in arms after Usher had to cancel an appearance at Clive Davis' pre-Grammy party this past Saturday to fly off to Brazil to be with his wife Tameka Foster after she had a cosmetic surgery mishap. Yesterday, more of the details about her surgery came out. According to the Huffington Post, Foster went into a Sao Paulo hospital for a "simple liposuction" and suffered a cardiac arrest shortly before undergoing plastic surgery, the spokeswoman of the doctor who was to perform the procedure said Thursday.
Ellen Dastry, spokeswoman for plastic surgeon Silvio Sterman, says that Raymond suffered a cardiac arrest while being anesthetized for the procedure "but was revived in less than a minute by heart massage." She was then placed in an induced coma before being taken to the intensive-care unit, a procedure Dastry said was "absolutely normal" and performed in order to "avoid unnecessary complications."
Now after the tragic death of Kanye West's mother Dr. Donda West, I for some reason thought that people, specifically black women, would think twice and maybe even three times before going under the knife for such an unnecessary procedure. I mean Tameka is still fairly young and to have five kids her body looks great. I can't understand why a woman with that much to lose would put herself in such a potentially dire circumstance...but maybe that's just me.
