For those of you who haven't heard, rapper Coolio -real name Artis Leon Ivey- was arrested last week at LAX and later released on bail after an airport baggage screener found cocaine in his luggage. Well, this week Artis has been officially charged with felony cocaine possession and misdemeanor battery, a Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office spokesperson confirmed.
Coolio reportedly grabbed a screener’s arm to prevent the search, according to authorities. He's also been charged with one misdemeanor count of possesion of a smoking device.
He is scheduled for arraignment on April 3 in LAX Superior Court. The maximum penalty if convicted is three years in jail.
