So the BET Awards went down last night with much fanfare and less results. Everyone was anticipating the inevitable tribute to the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, but what they got instead was a series of mediocre tribute performances sans Ne-Yo that were drizzled throughout the evening. I think they probably should have just made the tribute the centerpiece of the show where they had a few dancers and singers pay tribute along with some video footage because what they did felt thrown together and nothing seemed to work very well.
From Jamie Foxx bombing with flat jokes in the first five minutes to Taraji and Tyrese doing a "Baby Boy" skit (sigh), I just didn't know what to think about this show that was supposed to honor Blacks in Entertainment. My advice to the folks over at BET...rehire whoever put together the 1st BET Awards show pronto, that was an exciting show and start planning for next year...immediately!
