WILLIAMS FINED $10K FOR US OPEN MELTDOWN

Serena Williams was fined $10,000 for her profanity-laced tirade directed at a U.S. Open line judge. I didn't get a chance to catch the match live but from the folks who did they said it was justifiable as this type of call is rarely ever called on this level of the game.

The $10,000 penalty Williams earned by reaching the semifinals is the maximum on-site fine that can be issued for unsportsmanlike conduct at a Grand Slam tournament and she was also fined $500 for smashing her racket afer the first set.

Naturally, folks are looking into things to see if they are going to penalize her further.

I think that Serena simply had a bad game and it got the best of her. Similar to any other male dominated sport where they do unsportsmanlike things. However, since Serena is a woman...a black woman... folks are really looking down on her like she threw her racket at someone instead of spewing a few choice words at a judge.

It's really irking me because if you look at the comments that folks are putting up behind the mere mention of this incident you'll find a lot of racist rants and statements about Serena. It's like this gives folks an excuse to say the racist and negative statements they are thinking about her anyway...SIGH.
