In why can't we just stay together news, Kelis has filed for divorce from her husband of just over four years, hip-hop star Nas, according to several news outlets.
“I can confirm that she has filed for divorce,” Kelis’ rep told inquirers. “We request the media to respect her privacy during this very difficult time.”
The “Milkshake” singer reportedly filed for divorce on Thursday in Los Angeles Superior Court, citing irreconcilable differences as well as verbal abuse and infidelity.
Kelis, who is pregnant with the couple’s child, is asking for spousal and child support.

Earlier this month in an interview with MTV News, Nas offered no hints that the couple’s marriage was in trouble.
“She’s great man. She’s doing good,” he said of his pregnant wife. In fact, he said the two were working on coming up with names for their first child together. “Yeah, [we are deciding between] a few baby names,” Nas told MTV. “It’s kind of hard.
“I’ve been thinking about kinda putting something online: ‘Choose his name,’” he continued with a smile. “You get a couple stacks for that. We take care of you for that. You win something real. But we’re thinking now.”
The couple tied the knot in Atlanta in January 2005.
Let just hope that these are just pregnancy hormones that are making this happen and that the two can work it out. I would really hate to see another black child grow up with parents who don't love each other.
