If you're like me you are totally stoked that it's "Shark Week" on the Discovery Channel. Although some of the documentaries on my favorite marine creature were reruns, last night a new show premiered with new surprises. "The Great White Appetite" showed in detail just how much sharks can eat and what they eat but what came as a total surprise to me was the brotha, Charles Ingram (above), who hosted the show and who dived into the water to get a closer look at the sharks.
As a shark junkie, I've probably seen every documentary ever made about sharks but I've never seen a black person get into the water to swim and study them. So I was totally excited to watch former Marine, Stuntman and Malibu Scuba Instructor, Charles Ingram, swimming with the sharks last night. You should definitely check out the show when it airs again, Charles was fearless!

A hearing on the Columbia-AEG deal is scheduled for Monday.
WILSON TO DOUBLE IT UP WITH GREY'S AND PRIVATE PRACTICE
The Grey’s Anatomy Emmy nominee will cross over to sister show Private Practice early into season 6 (episode 3, specifically) when Bailey visits Oceanside Wellness. Supposedly there will be potentially be something between Bailey and Sam (Taye Diggs) during this visit.
Wilson is really hustling this season as she will step behind the cameras later this fall and direct her first episode of Grey’s Anatomy.

THE HOUSEHUSBANDS OF HOLLYWOOD
Okay so the "Househusbands of Hollywood" is supposed to be premiering on August 15th and Direct TV has been showing a sneak peek. I must say that watching Tempestt and Darryl together seems sooo weird. I feel like I'm watching a sitcom. It seems to be an interesting show that puts an interesting spin on the whole domestic life most American's have come to know.
G.I. JOE BANS CRITICS

Paramount Pictures has decided that the biggest movie of the summer, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, won’t be screened for critics before it's release this coming Friday.
The Washington Times reported that only a select few writers from globs and movie Web sites have seen it for review.
The studio said that its intention is to promote the movie at the heartland, at cities and audiences outside the entertainment vortexes of New York and Los Angeles.
Last week, Paramount organized a special screening of the movie for 1,000 military service members and their families at the Andrews Air Force Base in Camp Springs. They are also targeting to focus on markets like Kansas City, Charlotte, N.C., and Columbus, Ohio.
“G.I. Joe’ is a big, fun, summer event movie - one that we’ve seen audiences enjoy everywhere from Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland to Phoenix, Arizona” says Rob Moore, vice chairman of Paramount Pictures, was quoted as saying by the newspaper.
“After the chasm we experienced with ‘Transformers 2′ between the responses of audiences and critics, we chose to forgo opening-day print and broadcast reviews as a strategy to promote ‘G.I. Joe.’ We want audiences to define this film,” he added.
The film’s has been made with an estimated budget of $175 million and a cast that includes Dennis Quaid, Channing Tatum, Sienna Miller, Marlon Wayans and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
The story is based on the famous comic series, G.I. Joe, which” follows the adventures of an elite team using high-tech spy and military equipment to take down a corrupt arms dealer.
It has been directed by Stephen Sommers, whose previous films include The Mummy and Van Helsing.
I think that was smart of them to do this after all of the backlash that "Transformers 2" received. I know I'm looking forward to seeing Marlon Wayans in his first action blockbuster.
FIRST BLACK SUPERMODEL NAOMI SIMS DEAD AT 61
It had been decades since she left the runway to become an author and launch her own beauty empire, Naomi Sims Beauty Products.
According to Target Market News, Sims attained success at the same time that the "Black is Beautiful" movement was taking hold, and her accomplishments as a barrier-breaking African-American model helped pave the way for the black runway stars of the 1970s, including Pat Cleveland, Alva Chinn and Beverly Johnson.
Sims often spoke of her difficult start -- as a gangly foster-care kid in Pittsburgh who towered over the other children in her school. In 1966, she came to New York City to attend the Fashion Institute of Technology on scholarship.
When she began approaching modeling agencies, she was turned down again and again -- with some telling her that her skin was too dark. Instead of giving up, she pushed forward and approached photographers directly.
The approach landed her the cover of The New York Times' August 1967 fashion supplement. She used that photo to market herself directly to advertising agencies, and within a year she was earning $1,000 a week and appearing in a national television campaign for AT&T. Before long, she was modeling for top designers.
Sims gave up modeling after five years and launched her own wig-making business geared toward black women. She eventually expanded the multimillion-dollar business to include beauty salons and cosmetics, and she wrote "All About Health and Beauty for the Black Woman" and other books.
Sims was born in Oxford, Miss., in 1948. Her parents divorced soon after she was born and her mother moved Sims and her two sisters to Pittsburgh.
Besides her son, Sims is survived by a sister, Betty, and a granddaughter.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday August 6th, 2009 @ 11am St. Ignatius Loyola Parish 980 Park Avenue @ 84th St New York, NY 10028.
BARACK OBAMA'S BIRTHDAY PARTY...IN WAX
Madame Tussauds celebrated Barack Obama's 48th birthday yesterday with a wax party among friends. Those in attendance (in wax) were Bill Clinton, Oprah, Colin Powell, and George W. Bush. It's amazing how much Bill and Obama's wax figures look like them. Oprah's...not so much. You can see visitors of the museum also wearing birthday hats in celebration of our President's 48th birthday.

ON A POLITICAL NOTE...
Visit msnbc.com for Breaking News, World News, and News about the Economy
I really dig the way Keith broke down the hypocrites who are downing Obama's health care reform in this video. He's right, they don't want to vote for it because they are already bought out by those crooks at the insurance company.
We American's really need to pull together and raise hell for them to pass this bill. And I think that just how Keith pointed out the woman who couldn't afford healthcare is what President Obama needs to be doing to push this bill. American's need some examples that hit close to home so they can make these politicians do their jobs.

Coming in first place this weekend as expected but disappointingly so with the box office numbers is "Funny People" the not so funny film that brought in $23.4 Million. It looks at though Judd Apatow is running out of steam.
In second place is Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince which brought in $17.7 Million to bring it's total to $225 Million.
