On Wednesday, I got a chance to go to a special screening of Fox Searchlight's "The Secret Life of Bees" and must say that it was very good. To be honest, I'm not familiar with the book and when I saw the trailer, I still wasn't sure what to make of it. However, this movie is something that we don't quite get in the black community too often - smart and thoroughly entertaining.
I don't want to say too much because I want you all to see it for yourself, however I will say that director Gina Prince-Bythewood did a phenomenal job of getting grade A performances from the cast all the way around. This movie should win plenty of awards and will hopefully get a grand audience at the boxoffice next weekend. Check it out...
